DAvidson grove missionary Baptist church
In the mid-summer of 1906, plans were erected for the Davidson Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Until 1907, when the plans became a reality under the leadership of Rev. F.M. Melton and Sis. Lizzie Burch, services were held under a little tent, later moving into a one-room wooden building. The name Davidson Grove came from the family in which the land (that Davidson Grove was constructed on) belonged to. The family was named the Davidson's, and to honor them and show appreciation, the church was named for them. To create a better environment for worshiping God, the church was rebuilt in 1948 under the leadership of Rev. B.J. Ivey. The current building was constructed in 1968 under the leadership of the Rev. P.W. Huntley. We've had many pastors, deacons, members, and friends pass through the doors of Davidson Grove from 1907 to now. We would like to acknowledge the pastor that served in Davidson Grove for 39 years, the Rev. Dr. B. M. Harris. Dr. Harris was a very wise man who knew a lot about God's word. We truly miss Dr. Harris, who went to be with the Lord in December of 2012, but we thank God for our latest shepherd, Rev. Jakeem Bowman, who is leading Davidson Grove to greater heights.
